Art is the relationship that a viewer and a work of art establish between themselves. The quality of this relationship determines the value of a work of art for the individual, not how much one knows “or should know” about art. A work of art takes on the weight of consensus when it has meaning for many people. Empty Symbol’s rich collection of popular motifs provides endless possibilities for self-initiated stories. Viewers can spontaneously work out its material, like props on a stage, into personal acts of narrative and play.
